Introduction
The paper aims to present the outputs of the project Modern Methods of Vehicle Damage Documentation and Analysis solved by the Transport Research Centre and by the Department of Forensic Engineering of the Brno University of Technology within the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic program DOPRAVA 2020+ - the book Vehicle Crush Investigation: A Guidebook to documentation and analysis and Database - The Catalogue of Vehicle Damage.
Materials and methods
The research focused on analyzing the usability of various methods for documentation and subsequent analysis of vehicle damage for the purposes of comprehensive crash analysis and also subsequent validation of the applicability of selected methods of documentation and damage analysis depending on the damage extent and character. The obtained data served as a basis for creating the main outputs of this project.
The results
The main output of the project - Database: The damage catalogue - contains 2 main parts: the characteristic damage catalogue and the EES catalogue. This tool can serve as a quality basis for the crash analysis and the validation of mutual vehicle damage correspondence after a collision. The database could be an invaluable aid in crash analysis, especially in cases where the available data are insufficient (e.g. manipulated damage events) or there are specific damages for which there is usually not enough data available in the public crash test databases (e.g. damage caused by low speeds crash).
